House Committee Hears About Pot Farms in the Parks

How much pot is being farmed in Sequoia and Yosemite national parks? Quite a lot, apparently.
Testimony delivered today to the House Parks Committee pointed out that during 2004 more than 44,000 marijuana plants were destroyed in Sequoia, while about 10,000 were destroyed inside Yosemite and along its borders.
Street value of that grass? Would you believe $30 million?
In presenting that information to the committee, Laura Whitehouse of the National Parks Conservation Association urged Congress to provide adequate funding to the parks so they can combat this illicit trade, protect visitors, and repair environmental damage caused by the drug farms.
