Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials, who earlier this month released a draft Environmental Impact Statement on a road proposed to run along the north shore of Fontana Lake, are now ready to hear what the general public thinks of the plan.
A series of meetings has been scheduled for February to collect public comment. The meetings are planned for February 2nd at Swain County High School in Bryson City, N.C.,; February 6th at Robbinsville High School in Robbinsville, N.C.,; February 7th at Asheville Renaissance Hotel in Asheville, N.C., February 9th at the Knoxville Marriott Hotel in Knoxville, Tenn.; and February 13th at Gatlinburg-Pittman High School in Gatlinburg, Tenn.
All the meetings, which will be preceded by an open house, begin at 4:30 p.m. with public comments being taken beginning at 8 p.m. If you want to say something, you'll have to sign up before 8 p.m., and you'll have three minutes to say what's on your mind.
