A California congressman wants to know why so many of the souvenirs you find in national park gift shops are made overseas.
Representative Jim Costa is so bothered by not-made-in-America products that he's asked the National Park Service to find ways to encourage the sale of "authentic American-made souvenirs" in the national parks.
"I believe that it is patriotic that our souvenirs that we bring home four our national treasures, in fact, be made by American workers," Costa recently told his House colleagues.
While the NPS is looking into the matter, Costa didn't get everything he wanted. According to a wire story carried the other day in the Durango Herald, the Democrat had sought a ban against foreign goods in national parks.
