Laura Bush wants you to take your kids to the national parks.
During comments the First Lady made last night in Florida at a National Park Foundation event, Mrs. Bush urged parents to enroll their kids in Junior Ranger programs so they could learn more about the history of national parks and science conducted within their borders.
"Visiting our national parks really is a life-changing experience," said the First Lady, who chairs the foundation, a non-profit that raises private funds for the national park system.
Perhaps she could urge her husband to fully fund the National Park Service so more parks could offer Junior Ranger programs. Currently, 286 of the 388 NPS units offer them.
