Natural Bridges Campground Reopened After Plague Detection

The plague scare in southern Utah is over. National Park Service officials have reopened the 13-site campground at Natural Bridges National Monument following a three-week closure due to the discovery of plague in three deer mice.
While the campground was closed, crews dusted the monument's developed areas -- the visitor center, campground, trail heads and residential area -- with insecticides recommended by the Centers for Disease Control and the National Park Service Public Health Program.
Plague is known to crop up from time to time in the Four Corners region. So keep your distance from chipmunks, ground squirrels, rock squirrels or other rodents you might see in the area.
