A fire on U.S. Forest Service land just outside Olympic National Park has forced the park to close the Staircase area.
The problem is that the Bear Gulch II fire is burning in steep terrain and there's a threat of burning logs and boulders rolling down onto the Staircase access road, Forest Service Road 24.
The fire, roughly 30 acres in size, is thought to have been human-caused.
