There's some good news coming out of Glacier National Park.
While the Red Eagle Fire is up to 25,000 acres and only 30 percent contained, the evacuation order for St. Mary has been lifted and the Going-to-the-Sun Road is open in its entirety. U.S. 89 going north from St. Mary also has been reopened.
For stat-heads, about 57 percent of the fire, or 14,450 acres, is located on Blackfoot Tribal Trust lands, while 42 percent, or 10,500 acres, is burning within Glacier. The fire's perimeter measures about 40 miles.
Within the park, Superintendent Mick Holm has banned backcountry campfires as well as smoking beyond trailheads.
