Red Eagle Fire Update

Progress is coming in Glacier National Park, but it's slow.
Nearly 500 firefighters have managed to contain 40 percent of the Red Eagle Fire, which is burning across 26,500 acres. U.S. 89 has been reopened, the Going-to-the-Sun Road is fully open, the evacuation order for St. Mary has been lifted, and the park's St. Mary and Cutbank campgrounds also have been reopened.
That said, interagency officials report that "critical shortages of key overhead personnel and crews, limited access and very steep terrain withing the park and significant spotty burns on the eastern flanks, will continue to challenge suppression efforts. Fuels are dry and extreme fire behavior can be expected once temperatures exceed 70 degrees, humidity is below 30% and wind speed is in excess of 6 mph."
So, as the saying goes, it doesn't look like fire crews are out of the woods just yet.
