There's been another falling death in Yosemite, though this one involved a hiker, not a climber.
In the latest incident, a 28-year-old Missouri man fell about 400 feet from the Grizzly Peak area just east of the John Muir Trailhead in the Merced River Canyon above Yosemite Valley.
Patrick Watt was last seen this past Saturday before scrambling up the
Grizzly Peak Gully by himself. On Sunday, rangers went in search of him after he failed to return from his hike.
Ground searchers found
Watt’s body southeast of Grizzly Peak above the tree line between
Vernal Fall and the Vernal Fall foot bridge.
