Speak Out on Pending National Park Service Proposals
Now the Traveler is making it even easier for you to comment on pending National Park Service proposals, be they general management plans or the proposal to allow park visitors to carry concealed weapons in the parks.
In the Visitor Center box in the upper righthand corner we've added a link that will take you to our new public comment page that lists many of the proposals across the national park system that are open for public review and comment. From the posts on this page you can click a link that will take you to the Park Service's Planning, Environment and Public Comment web pages where you'll find detailed information on the plans as well as pages where you can leave your comments.
While we will be posting on the front page proposals that are open for public comment, the best way to scan the many proposals will be to visit the Comment Now! page where only posts concerning public comment proposals are being filed.

I sure hope people will take care of our land and keep it as beautiful as God intended it to be..and as far a concealed weapons in Parks,I myself see no problem with it,as I have been a CWP holder for many years, and as bad as our economy is,there are more and more people out there who would like to take what belongs to you, this I would not let happen.

I would obviously support the right of the people to bear arms especially in national parks. I would hope that the anti-gun communists would read up on the faqs about gun control. You are more likely to be killed under a doctors care (how I ended up) than by a criminal firearm. In the forrests you would be far better protected against the threat of wild animals besides the criminal element. Yes, crime does happen to campers. It can happen any where and any time. But responsible law abiding gun owners will now have the ability to protect against and prevent it in national parks. Its just common sense.

You know, I really doubt President Washington would appreciate someone assuming his name and using it to attack people who he disagrees with as communists. Maybe Ole GW is being a paranoid Republican?
Just a thought...

I am openly conservative (not Republican) and not pretending to be George Washington. I am against CWP in the parks. Not because I think it's dangerous for the visitors, but because armed people will view wildlife differently. An unarmed person would be much less likely to approach a bear, wolf, deer or bison than a "bubba" who thinks it is his responsability to protect all visitors within his field of view.
Having been involved in Law Enforcement (I minored in Criminal Justice and served as a dispatcher) I believe the LE's would rather assume all with a gun are bad guys than to have to evaluate as Dorothy did in the Wizard of Oz. (is he a bad visitor or a good visitor) I know they would not appreciate any armed assistance from the public.
I see no appreciable value from having an armed public in the parks.
