Acadia National Park Institutes Road Closures to Thwart Poachers

Acadia National Park officials have instituted their annual nighttime closures of sections of roads in the park to thwart poachers who might find the park's deer too tempting.

Routinely between November 1 and November 30, which is the Maine deer hunting season for rifles, the park closes the one-way section of the Park Loop Road from Paradise Hill Road to Otter Cliff Road (traveling clockwise) between dark and 7 a.m.

During the same time period the Great Head Road between the Schooner Head Overlook intersection and the Great Head parking lot also will be closed.
