Ahhh, When it Snows At Bryce Canyon National Park....

Marion Littlefield arose shortly before dawn Tuesday to get these sparkling sunrise pictures at Bryce Canyon National Park.

If you were lucky enough to be in Bryce Canyon National Park on Tuesday, you would have been surrounded by one of the prettiest days of the year, as these photos clearly show.

Sure, it got down into the single digits overnight, but the fresh dump of powder certainly brightened up the red-rock landscape. Marion Littlefield is fortunate enough to live at Bryce year-round, so getting up at 6:30 or so to be in place to capture such scenes isn't that tough.

That first shot is of Thor's Hammer, and in the one below the spire in the background is known as "The Sentinel."

In case you're flexible, the extended forecast is calling for a chance of snow Thursday through Sunday.

Can you imagine the aromatic fresh air after a nice snow like this...as John Muir would say--"delicious"!

The silence was golden, only the awakening ravens caws was heard.

Thank you, Marion, for sharing your pictures and impressions. Bryce is a great spot in early summer, when I was there. It must be very special in winter.

And would you believe I've lived here all my life and went 25 yrs without even entering the park. It's amazing how every where I go now I am looking for a photo op, and have a whole different perspective of nature.
