Not every national park visitor likes to spend their nights in a sleeping bag, cook over a campstove, or paddle across a lake. That's why there are houseboats.

This season at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area you'll have the option of renting a 62-foot-long houseboat that ensures you don't leave home without some of your luxuries.

These cruisers, available through Lake Powell Resorts & Marinas, have been specifically designed for those who want a state-of-the-art houseboat, with all the amenities of a larger luxury vessel.

Sleeping up to 12 people, the new Journey is ideal for smaller parties who still want to enjoy houseboating at this level of amenities, but for about 30 percent less than the larger luxury vessels.

The Journey houseboat features an open and spacious cabin, plenty of storage, and an upgraded kitchen. There are three staterooms with queen beds, one lower berth, two three-quarter bathrooms, a convertible dinette table, and a convertible sofa with cushions on the upper deck for sleeping under the stars.

Other amenities include an eight-person hot tub, 42-inch LCD TV and home theater system with a tracking satellite system, an upper deck TV with satellite feed, CD stereo system, electric inverter system, remote toy tank for carrying extra fuel for power boats and PWC’S, GPS, outdoor gas grill, and much more.

Naturally, this will cost you a bit more than a backpacking trip. Three-day rentals of the Journey run $4,350. A week on the water runs $8,145.
