A 37-year-old man drowned in a section of the Colorado River in Glen Canyon National Recreation Area when he was thrown from his raft.
NRA officials say Michael Gregory Don Carlos of Nederland, Colorado, died Saturday. He and his friends were in Cataract Canyon on a set of rapids known as "Big Drop 2" when he was tossed out of the raft. His body was recovered at the site of the accident.

Unfortunate, but it is inevitable that a few fatalities will occur where people choose to take on the challenges of nature. Hopefully, there will not be an over reaction that reduces the opportunity of visitors to take voluntary risks.
