Update on Opening Mount Rainier National Park's Cayuse Pass

Share

In case you're wondering, Cayuse Pass in Mount Rainier National Park didn't open as scheduled this past Tuesday. A little late-season snowstorm prevented that from happening. Now park officials say the pass should be open at noon Friday.

Once the pass is open, you'll be able to travel from the southern boundary of Mount Rainier via State Route 12 to State Route 123 north over Cayuse Pass to State Route 410 to the park’s north boundary near Crystal Mountain.

The Washington State Department of Transportation still anticipates that State Route 410 east from Chinook Pass to Yakima will open by the Memorial Day weekend ... barring any snow removal delays.
