In the Fashion of Wikipedia, Sierra Club Launches New Trails Site That You Can Help Build and Keep Honest

Ever wonder about a hiking trail you've never trod upon? Ever had some insights regarding a trail you'd like to share? Well, the folks at the Sierra Club have launched a product for you, one designed to provide trail descriptions and also allow you to tweak existing descriptions.
Sierra Club Trails, which went live today, allows you to add, update, and edit trail information on the site. So if there's a listing about a trail in Yosemite National Park, one that you've recently hiked and encountered a section of trail that was washed out, or where the bugs were particularly hungry, or if camping spots are getting really popular and should be reserved in advance, you can update that.
The site, which also includes water trails, features tips for hikers, a birding blog, photo contests, and Nature Notes, a series of audio features based on interviews with naturalists and Sierra Club Outings leaders.
Like the Traveler, Sierra Club Trails is also an online community where users can create profiles and meet other hikers and nature-lovers.
Now, this site is just in its Beta version, so it's not very well populated with trails just yet. It will be interesting to see how it grows and how helpful it proves to be.
