Hiker Dies In 300-foot Fall At Rocky Mountain National Park

A hiker along the Keyhole Route of Longs Peak fell has been killed in a fall of about 300 feet, according to the National Park Service.

The was at least the third fatality on Longs Peak this summer, and the second that occurred near the Keyhole, a unique geologic formation on the peak.

The latest fatality occurred shortly after noon Saturday when three hikers on the Keyhole Route saw another fall, according to a release from the park. Rangers were contacted by cell phone soon after the fall and reached the unidentified man’s body at 3:17 p.m.

Rangers planned to bring the man's body out today.
