Holiday Tours Set For James A. Garfield National Historic Site

Holiday tours have been scheduled for the James A. Garfield National Historic Site in Ohio.

Tours of the Garfield home during the week between Christmas and New Year’s will be available between 12 p.m.-5 p.m. beginning Tuesday, December 27, and extending through Saturday, December 31.  The site will be closed Sunday, December 25, Monday, December 26, and Sunday, January 1.

Anyone interested in touring the Garfield home, browsing the museum exhibits, walking the site’s paved paths, or watching the 18-minute biographical film is invited to the site during this special week. 

Regular guided tours of the Garfield home will be offered; please call the site at 440-255-8722 during the morning of the day you’d like to visit for the most up-to-date tour times. 

The site’s entrance fee is $5 per person for those 16 and over; those 15 and under are free of charge.  Young visitors are encouraged to ask for a copy of the site’s Junior Ranger program booklet, which contains fun and educational activities that can be done in the Garfield house and around the grounds.

The site’s regular winter hours of 12 p.m.-5 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays only will resume as of Monday, January 2.

The James A. Garfield National Historic Site is located at 8095 Mentor Avenue (U.S. 20) in Mentor, Ohio, approximately 25 miles east of Cleveland.
