Last Body From Trio Swept Over Vernal Fall in Yosemite National Park Identified

Authorities have identified the last victim of an accident back in July in which three people were swept over Vernal Fall in Yosemite National Park.

On Tuesday officials said a body found this past Saturday in the Merced River roughly 120 yards downstream of a footbridge below Vernal Fall was that of Ramina Badal, 21, of Manteca, California.

Ms. Badal had been missing since July 19 when she, Hormiz David, 22, of Modesto, California, and Ninos Yacoub, 27, of Turlock, California, were seen being swept over the 317-foot waterfall.

Mr. David's body was on August 5 approximately 240 feet below the waterfall. The body of Mr. Yacoub was found on November 29 about 100 yards below the Vernal Fall footbridge near the area where Ms. Badal's body was later located.

Yosemite National Park officials said fluctuating water levels in the Merced River, changing weather conditions, and treacherous terrain contributed to a difficult and challenging search.
