Virginians Offered Incentive To Cool Off In Shenandoah National Park

Share

As an enticement to get folks back into the mountains after recent storms roared through the mid-Atlantic states with soaring temperatures, the lodging concessionaire at Shenandoah National Park is offering a $25 voucher for folks who book a room there.

“Shenandoah was also impacted by the recent storm” said Wayne Soard, resident district manager for Skyland Resort and Big Meadows Lodge. “While our power has been fully restored, we recognize our neighbors in the communities around us are still inconvenienced from power outages and suffering from the heat. We encourage them to visit us in the cooler temperatures of the Blue Ridge Mountains and enjoy an escape from these issues.”

A recent forest fire that closed some trails may have also kept some potential visitors at home, so now is also their time to enjoy a discount as the fire subsides and trails start to reopen.

As part of July Neighbor Appreciation Month, ARAMARK is offering guests from counties neighboring the park a $25 resort voucher at check-in that can be used toward their room fee or in the restaurant. A current Virginia driver’s license is required at time of check-in to receive the voucher. The offer is not valid with other promotions or discounts and is based on availability at time of booking.

July Neighbor Appreciation Month is being offered by ARAMARK in conjunction with Shenandoah National Park’s designation of Shenandoah Neighbors Day. Park entrance fees will be waived on July 21, 2012 to residents of the following neighboring counties: Albemarle, Augusta, Greene, Madison, Nelson, Page, Rappahannock, Rockingham and Warren.

If residents visit the park on July 21, take advantage of the popular Blackberry Delight event that will be held at Big Meadows Wayside from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Live music, children’s crafts and face painting, wine tastings and lots of delicious food will be on site. The wayside is located at mile 51.2 on Skyline Drive.
