Washington State Woman Takes Winning Photo For Theodore Roosevelt National Park Pass
A beautiful shot of the Little Missouri River has won the first annual "Picture Yourself in Theodore Roosevelt National Park" photo contest and will be placed on the park's 2013 annual pass.
Kim Wehner, of Kennewick, Washington, took the photograph from the Wind Canyon Overlook in the park's South Unit.
Sandra Swanson of Inver Grove Heights, Minnesota, won first prize with “Painted Canyon Overlook,” second prize went to Rolen and Lisa Honeyman from Dickinson, North Dakota, for “Bison On the Move” and fourth prize for “Elk Rut.”
“Bison Battle” by Teresina Wheaton of Knoxville, Tennessee, was the third-place winner.
The top ten photos will be on display in the park’s South Unit Visitor Center through December 16, and you also can view them on the park's flickr page.
Prizes were donated by the Theodore Roosevelt Nature and History Association.
“Congratulations to Kim Wehner and the rest of the prize winners,” said Superintendent Valerie Naylor. “We would also like to thank everyone who participated in the photo contest. We sincerely appreciate Theodore Roosevelt Nature and History Association’s partnership in the contest and look forward to another one next year.”
