Lightning-Sparked Fire Forces Closure Of Biscayne National Park In South Florida
Biscayne National Park in south Florida was closed Wednesday due to a lightning-sparked brush fire that was burning hundreds of acres along Canal Drive, park officials said.
The fire "has forced the closure of all facilities at Biscayne National Park's Convoy Point. Effective immediately, the Dante Fascell Visitor Center, concessioner and trails are closed for the remainder of the day and possibly tomorrow as well," a posting on the park's Facebook page read.
Phone outages prevented calls from going through to park staff for an update on the fire.
