An individual fell about 400 feet to their death at Grand Canyon National Park on Monday afternoon.

A park release said a call was received just after 1 p.m. that someone had fallen from the South Rim at Mather Point.

The crew of the park's Helitak located the body, approximately 400 feet below the rim. Search and Rescue rangers were working Monday afternoon to recover the body. Mather Point was closed to the public until further notice.
