The rumors are true. Not only has the National Park Service been eyeing the Rose Bowl Parade as a way to help celebrate its centennial next year, but the agency has persuaded the Tournament of Roses Parade to make "Find Your Adventure" the theme of next year's parade.
Mike Matthiessen, newly elected to serve as president of the 2015-16 Tournament of Roses, said in a prepared statement that, "(T)his theme has grown out of a unique relationship between the Pasadena Tournament of Roses and the U.S. National Park Service. The 2016 Rose Parade will help shine light on the centennial celebration of our nation’s national parks."
"As proponents of the American spirit, we encourage people to find beauty in the landscape that builds the backdrop of their lives. From coast-to-coast, we will add stories of adventure to our collection while protecting our unique heritage and looking to the future.”
The Rose Bowl stadium itself was designated National Historic Landmark in 1987. The NHL program is administered by the National Park Service.
The Park Service has not yet issued a release on its involvement with the Rose Bowl Parade.

How much is that gonna cost taxpayers?
I can't find any information on how much the taxpayers of Pasadena, CA pay for police services, etc on parade day. I don't believe that this will cost the Federal government anything. The floats are built and decorated by non-government organizations (often corporations)from what I understand.
Do you know if there's any specific plans to acknowledge the new San Gabriel National Mounment, right in the Rose Bowl's backyard? I'll be disappointed if they overlook this obvious connection....
It's great the the National Park Service is collaborating with the Tournament of Roses! But you might want to make sure you get the name of the parade correct. There is no Rose Bowl Parade, only the Rose Parade, which has been held 25 times more than the game. Here's an article that will help you out: http://bit.ly/NoRBParade
As for taxes--It's my understanding that the parade and game do not cost the city anything, and they make a good deal of money on both. The Tournament of Roses is a volunteer non-profit that produces the parade, game, and all the events surrounding it.
San Gabriel Mountains NM will be overlooked because it's not an NPS area; it's managed by the US Forest Service. However, Santa Monica Mountains NRA is in the park system. I hope that, however much the parks are celebrated in the parade, historic sites and monuments are not forgotten.
