High Winds, Downed Trees Close All Entrances To Olympic National Park

Share

Gusting winds, some surpassing 70 mph, downed trees across Olympic National Park on Saturday and forced the closure of all entry roads into the park.

Park officials said rangers were assessing damage from the falling trees and helping visitors assemble in clearings.

"Downed trees have closed most park roads, with reports earlier this hour of winds in excess of 70 miles per hour along the coast and high winds throughout the park," park spokeswoman Barb Maynes said.

All campgrounds in the park also were closed.
