Even in western North Dakota, light pollution is encroaching on the night skies at Theodore Roosevelt National Park/NPS

More and more visitors to the National Park System are discovering the wonderfully fascinating night skies high over head once the sun goes down. But light pollution poses a threat to many of those dark vistas, even at Theodore Roosevelt National Park in western North Dakota.

The night sky is one of the resources at Theodore Roosevelt National Park that are becoming more rare and precious as our country develops. In this short video, Ranger Kate explains why the night sky is important to her, and why we need to focus special attention on preserving this amazing piece of heritage.
