The Park Service campground at Devils Postpile won't reopen until 2017/NPS

Visitors this summer to California’s Devils Postpile National Monument can still view its namesake rock formation, but other areas are temporarily off limits until fixes are completed.

The 20-site campground in the monument will not open until the 2017 summer season due to delays in completion of a necessary waterline replacement and an emergency repair of the wastewater system. However, Inyo National Forest, which surrounds Devils Postpile, runs 128 first-come, first-served campsites within the Reds Meadow Valley, including at Reds Meadow, Minaret Falls, Pumice Flat, and Upper Soda Springs campgrounds. The Minaret Vista Entrance Station will provide campsite availability information.

For hikers, the trail to the base of Rainbow Falls is temporarily closed, likely for the season, in order to complete trail work and mitigate rockfall hazards on the popular route. The trail to the top of Rainbow Falls remains open, and visitors have access to the two viewpoints of the waterfall.
