Body Of Missing Grand Teton National Park Hiker Found On Mount Owen

A 21-year-old summer employee of the Grand Teton Lodge Company apparently fell to his death while hiking on 12,928-foot Mount Owen in Grand Teton National Park/QT Luong, www.terragalleria.com/parks

A Denver man who went for a hike on his day off from the Grand Teton Lodge Co. died in an apparant fall in Grand Teton National Park.

Rene Dreiling, from Denver, had been missing since Friday when he did not show up for his scheduled shift at Colter Bay. On Sunday evening his body was spotted on a rocky cliff band beneath steep snow fields on the north side of Mount Owen during an aerial reconnaissance flight.

Rangers planned to attempt to recover the body Monday if weather conditions allow.

A Park Service investigation determined that Dreiling was last seen on Wednesday morning along the northwest shore of Jenny Lake. He had discussed plans to climb Table Mountain and several peaks in Hanging Canyon.

Park rangers encourage all hikers and climbers to share their planned route of travel and an expected return time with someone prior to departure.
