Due to heavy snow load and the potential for flooding, the 20-site campground in Devils Postpile National Monument in California might be closed for the 2017 summer season, according to Superintendent Deanna Dulen.
Alternatively within the Reds Meadow Valley, there are 128 first-come, first-served campsites. These are within the Inyo National Forest and include Reds Meadow, Minaret Falls, Pumice Flat, and Upper Soda Springs campgrounds. The Minaret Vista Entrance Station can provide campsite availability information before you enter the Reds Meadow Valley.
The Devils Postpile campground was also closed in 2016 due to delays in completion of a water line replacement and an emergency repair of the wastewater system.
