Floodwaters Close Ohio And Erie Canal Towpath At Cuyahoga Valley National Park

Flooding along the Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail at Cuyahoga Valley National Park led the park staff to close the entire trail Monday/NPS

Flooding spurred by heavy rains has closed the entire Ohio & Erie Canal Towpath Trail in Cuyahoga Valley National Park in Ohio. The trail closure includes associated parking lots from Botzum Trailhead in Cuyahoga Falls to Lock 39 Trailhead in Valley View.

Park staff asked Monday that visitors not drive through moving or standing water or designated closed areas. Additionally, you should use caution in other park trails, as downed trees and water damage are a possibility.

All areas of the park have not been assessed due to water levels. Additional closures may be necessary as assessments continue.
