For three decades, Dick Proennieke lived in a rich slice of Alaskan wilderness that would become Lake Clark National Park and Preserve. He built his cabin by hand and survived off the land.

This short video provides some insights into his life at Twin Lakes.

PBS aired a film about him a while back that he created himself, about how he built his cabin and lived his life. It was fantastic.


I saw that film, right around the time I was first learning about the parks. It was indeed fantastic.
