A "P" minted Acadia National Park quarter. The Acadia National Park quarter is the third of the 2012 America the Beautiful Quarters from the U.S. Mint. The park was first established as a national site on July 8, 1916 and is known for incredible beauty and diversity. The park was the first park established east of the Mississippi River and is home to the tallest mountain on the U.S. Atlantic Coast. The reverse of the quarter depicts a view of the Bass Harbor Head Lighthouse and Acadia's rough coastline, highlighting the coastline, the lighthouse, the pine trees and the ocean. Inscriptions on the quarter include: ACADIA, MAINE, 2012 and E PLURIBUS UNUM.
