National Park Jumbles 2: MOLDEC?

Each of the 12 jumbles listed below can be unscrambled, using exactly the same letters -- no more, no less -- to reveal a word that is in the name of at least one American national park.

We won’t make you provide the full name of each National Park System unit. Just unscramble the 12 jumbles before midnight today (12:00 p.m. EST) and you will be eligible for our monthly prize drawing and a chance to win a copy of Andrew Skurka's The Ultimate Hiker's Gear Guide: Tools and Techniques to Hit the Trail.

Remember: We don't want the full names of parks, just the unscrambled words.

No cheating!

If we catch you Googling or engaged in other sneakery, we will make you read Edward Abbey’s Desert Solitaire: A Season In The Wilderness (McGraw-Hill, 1968) and see if you can name a single religion, race, ethnic group, or subculture that Abbey did not ridicule or insult.

Right on the button, Moon Pie. Way to go! And yes, there was an extra "O" in that one. It's now been removed. I'm frantically searching for someone to blame for that boo-boo. I wanted to blame it on Traveler's proofreader/factschecker, but then I remembered that we don't have one.

One of our trusted readers posted the correct answers in the clear -- right there in front of God and everybody -- and this list of unscrambled jumbles stayed there for some time before I could unpublish it. In the interim there was a sudden rush of readers submitting correct answers. I tell you, it was enough to make the Quizmeister a cynic if he weren't one already. ;o)

A hearty Winners Circle welcome to Eric, GeorgeS, viewmtn, and s.

Caprice Kutz has nailed it. Good job, Caprice.

David Crowl has nailed it. Not a surprise, of course. Welcome back to the Winners Circle, David.

I saw that right after I submitted my answers. When they matched mine I wondered where I went wrong since you never publish correct responses until th enext day.

I believe you GeorgeS, and I was happy to be able to let you post your comment here so that other Traveler readers could see your explanation and know that you are an honest and decent man.

Well done, tomp2; you're in.

how are answers to be submitted?

Send your answer as a comment, psmith3164. If you like, you can list the jumbled word and then the unscrambled word right after it. We won't approve your list for posting "in the clear," but we''ll let you know if you've answered correctly.

You've nailed it celbert and ILoveRoad Trips. Welcome to the Winners Circle.

You're in, psmith3164. Good job.

Good job, Kevin M. What took you so long? ;o)

Eric Nelson has put it all together nicely. Welcome back to the Winners Circle, Eric.

Welcome back to the Winners Circle, jchappell740. I was beginning to wonder what happened to you.
