What Hoover hammered out of the park
Was a curveball with a generous arc.

The Venus you see through your naked eye's lense
Shines like a star that has no friends.

We'll reveal the answer and explain the clues in tomorrow's Traveler.

Casa Grande Ruins? I am getting error messages everytime I try to anwer guizes. Are you getting these?

Sorry, but it's not Casa Grande Ruins. But if you were a bird dog, we'd notice that your tail is wagging and you've got your nose lifted into the wind.

Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument?

Sorry; it's not Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. Cold.

Congratulations to ed-123, who just proved that it can be done. BTW, Ed, you just needed to name the national park, not a cultural or physical feature on the premises.

second guess: Arches National Park?

It's not Arches National Park. In fact, the mystery park is not in Utah.

Is it the Lake Mead National Recreation Area?

Nope, not Lake Mead.

Well, Beachie, the professor's pretty darn picky when it comes to answers, so I'll say you're definitely hot with one of your two picks, but you really need to be more specific...

Gosh, OutInTheStiks, that answer is hot, hot, hot. Wanna try again?

Congratulations, celbert. You've got the right park. BTW, the Quizmeister is devious, but he is not that devious.

As for that third clue; it's useful, but not essential. As you've shown, it's possible to get the correct answer to this mystery spot puzzle without having a clue as to what that clue means. All will be explained tomorrow.

Beachie has nailed it too. Good job.

Yellowstone NP?

Not Yellowstone National Park.

Grand Canyon National Park?

Sorry, Ellen, it's not Grand Canyon National Park. Please try again.

Glen Canyon?

Great Sand Dunes National Park and Preserve?

Not Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, Kay.

Better have another cup of coffee, RangerLady. ;o)

Shenandoah National Park?

I'm afraid that Shenandoah National Park is way cold, Ellen. Try working the other side of the Mississippi.

Ok never posted a comment so didn't know they were moderated first.
Grand Canyon-Parashant NM.

The Cardinals vote for the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial. Too bad Pujols won't be there to test that arc this year?

Not quite there yet, Ellen, but very, very close. Just name the park intimately related to the one you mentioned.

Iowa is west of the Mississippi – surely someone has already guessed the Herbert Hoover National Historic Site.
You may have stumped me as I am running out of guesses. I will let my brain rest awhile to see if I can guess any other reasonable locations later today. I will eagerly wait for the unveiling tomorrow and the explanation of the clues…

Hooray, Ellen! Right on the button. Welcome to the winners circle.

Not Herbert Hoover National Historic Site, Anon. Resting your brain may get you on the right track.

Not Jefferson National Expansion Memorial, volknitter. Though you are way cold, I do note that you are at least (albeit by the slimmest of possible margins) on the correct side of the Mississippi River. ;o)

is it Craters of the Moon?

You've nailed it, djjeffrey100.

Nope, not Craters of the Moon National Monument and Preserve.

Hohokam Pima National Monument?

Sorry, viewmtn; it's not Hohokam Pima National Monument.

That's a bullseye, OutInTheStiks. Nice work.

Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park?

Not Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park. Cold.

Eric Nelson gets a gold star, and so does desk-bound parky. We need a bigger winners circle.

Grand Canyon National Monument (established by Hoover in 1929)

Not Grand Canyon National Park. Hoover won't lead you anywhere.

Montezuma Castle?

Not Montezuma Castle National Monument. A cold trail. Time's awastin' RangerLady; you need to git 'er done

Is it Lake Mead National Rec. Area?

Yosemite NP?

Not Lake Mead NRA.

You got it right, tomp2. Why so unhappy?

Sorry, Joy; Yosemite National Park is a clean miss.

I can only figure out the first clue so I'm basing my guesses on what other people have said. So now my guess is Grand Canyon- Parashant? And my captcha this time appears to be some middle-eastern language...

How about Great Basin NP?
