Second Year Of Every Kid In A Park Launched For 2016-2017

As part of President Obama’s commitment to protect our nation’s unique outdoor spaces and ensure that every American has the opportunity to visit and enjoy them, the Obama Administration has launched the second year of the Every Kid in a Park program, which gives fourth graders and their families free access to federal lands and waters nationwide for a full year.

Septic System Work Will Close Two Areas Of Acadia National Park For The Season

When Labor Day ends, the work begins at Acadia National Park. Two areas of Mount Desert Island in Maine – Seawall Campground and some visitor facilities at Sieur de Monts – will be closed for the season starting Tuesday as crews work to improve the septic systems that serve those areas.

An approaching hurricane on Thursday prompted a decision to order the evacuation of visitors from Ocracoke Island on North Carolina's Outer Banks, leading Cape Hatteras National Seashore to shut down all visitor services on the barrier island. At nearby Cape Lookout National Seashore, officials were planning to shutter their operations at noon Friday.

Star Show Coming To Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site

On Saturday, September 3, from 8 p.m.-10 p.m., Saint-Gaudens National Historic Site will host its seventh annual Star Party in partnership with the Springfield Telescope Makers of the Stellafane Observatory in Springfield,Vermont.
