Camping in Bryce Canyon National Park

Bryce Canyon National Park offers some gorgeous camping options for those toting a tent or pulling an RV. (Updated September 2022)

The park has two campgrounds, North and Sunset, located in close proximity to the visitor center, Bryce Canyon Lodge and the geologic wonder that is the Bryce Amphitheater. Both have restrooms with flush toilets, and drinking water.

During the summer months coin-operated laundry and shower facilities are available at the general store nearby. There are no hook-ups in the campgrounds, but a fee-for-use dump station is available for RV users at the south end of North Campground.

Both campgrounds are located in Ponderosa Pine forest habitat with equal amounts of shade and sun, giving them a similar appearance. Per-night fees are $20 for tent campers, $30 for RVers. Holders of special park passes; Lifetime Senior Pass, Annual Senior Pass, and Access Pass receive a 50% discount. Sites fill by early afternoon during the summer months. Click here for a map of South Campground, and here for a map of North Campground. A Group Site is available in Sunset Campground.

North Campground

This all-season campground is close to shuttle stops at the Visitor Center, General Store, and Fairyland Loop/Rim Trail. In winter, plenty of sunshine for generating solar electric power and plowed roads make it hospitable for offseason visitors.

The campground is located across the road to the east of the Bryce Canyon Visitor Center and is comprised of 99 sites in 4 loops; A, B, C, D (C&D are for tents only, though tenters can also use A and B.). Cost is $20 per site/per night for tent campers, who have 46 sites to choose from. Fifty Recreational Vehicle (RV) sites can be reserved during certain times of the year in Loop A. RV sites go for $30 per night.

There are no sewer, water or electrical hook-ups available. A dump station is available in summer months at the south end of the campground at no cost for those staying in the campground. Potable water is available near the dump station.

Cell coverage is iffy, and there is no WiFi signal. Flush toilets are available year-round. There are no showers, and portable showers are not allowed.

Sites are reserved through www.recreation.gov. Reservations for these sites can be made from 6 months to 2 days in advance (minimum advance reservation is two days). First-come, first-served sites are available mid-October through late May. Check the park’s website for specific dates.

*NOTE: During winter months all sites/loops may not be open due to winter weather conditions, such as freezing temperatures and deep snow.

Sunset Campground

This seasonal campground is located west of Sunset Point, approximately 1.5 miles south of the Bryce Canyon Visitor Center. Similar to North Campground, it’s within easy walking and biking distance to trails and attractions. You can even put your bike on a shuttle and tour different locations in the park.

The campground features 100 sites in 3 loops; A, B, & C. It is closed during the winter months.

Fifty tent-only sites are reservable during certain times of the year in Loop B (see Reservation Dates below). Cost is $20 per site/per night.

Loop A with its 50 sites is primarily for RV campers, who are charged $30 per night. Loops B & C are for tent campers. Two wheelchair-accessible sites are located in Loop A.

This campground is closest to the best hiking trails which begin and end at Sunset Point.
Space is available for RV and trailer combinations up to 40 feet in length. There are no sewer, water or electrical hook-ups available. A dump station is available in summer months near North Campground and is free for those staying in the campground. Potable water is available near the dump station.

There is limited cell reception, but no WiFi.

Sites are available first-come, first served from mid-April through October. Loop A has two accessible sites: Site 224 and Site 223. To reserve these ADA-accessible sites you may send your request to: Bryce Canyon National Park, PO Box 640201, Bryce, UT 84764, Attention: Campground Supervisor. Or, you may leave a message on the Campground phone: 435-834-4771. Be sure to include your name, contact information (phone # and/or email address) and the dates you wish to reserve. If ADA sites are available, they can also be reserved on a first-come, first-served basis by inquiring with the campground host.
