- 8/14/2009 12:54 pm - Is an International U.S.-Mexico Park At Big Bend Moving Closer to Reality? : I for one would love to see wilderness areas, parks, conservation areas...whatever you want to call them established without regard for the international border. R. Stefancik excellent story of the trinkets sold out of a basket on the honor system shows what is possible with the vast majority of us ...
- 7/29/2009 1:22 pm - Reader Participation Day: What's Your Favorite National Park Trail? : On of my favorites is the relatively short hike up to the top of Lassen Peak in Lassen Volcanic National Park...it will get your heart pounding pretty good and on a clear day (without forest fire smoke) the vistas are just amazing.
- 7/29/2009 12:45 pm - First Greenpeace, Now Motorcyclists Drawing A Bead On Mount Rushmore National Memorial : I enjoy this forum very much...however the self-serving diatribe coming for some of the posters is ridiculous. Beamis your causes and beliefs have merit and you are obviously educated and articulate. Your method of making your points however is offensive although I am sure that in your zealousness you feel ...
- 7/27/2009 10:02 pm - Greenpeace Activists Face Slew of Charges For Their Stunt At Mount Rushmore National Memorial : Frank; So in your line of thinking because of the legal argument about who owns the Black Hills including of course Rushmore then federal laws should not be enforced...anarchy prevails...enter at you own risk? I honour your beliefs but am thankful they aren't reality as far as present day law ...
- 7/27/2009 9:27 pm - Greenpeace Activists Face Slew of Charges For Their Stunt At Mount Rushmore National Memorial : Frank; All points well taken. However unless Greenpeace is a Sioux Nation organization or somehow affiliated with another Native American entity, I fail to see why the law should not be enforced in regards to Greenpeace's actions at Rushmore. I guess what I am asking in light of the facts ...
- 7/27/2009 8:51 pm - Greenpeace Activists Face Slew of Charges For Their Stunt At Mount Rushmore National Memorial : Frank; For what it's worth I happen to agree with you statement "the long federal screwing of the aboriginal inhabitants". I am trying to understand what that has to do with the original story about Greenpeace. Are you saying that because Rushmore came into being and therefore breaking the treaty ...
- 7/27/2009 3:20 pm - Greenpeace Activists Face Slew of Charges For Their Stunt At Mount Rushmore National Memorial : Wow...Just amazing logic! How about the damage that was potential to themselves, the environment, responding police personnel and NPS people as well as blatant disregard for the law and the reasons for the law. Arrogance like this deserves the MAX penalty!
- 7/25/2009 1:47 pm - Reader Participation Day: What's Your Favorite National Park, and Why? : Glacier National Park for it amazing views and wildlife. Grand Teton for the same reasons as well as having a little more solitude compared to it's northern neighbor...Yellowstone Lassen Volcanic National Park for its splendor, views, awesome hikes through the devastated area with forest, lava beds, baby cinder cones, stinky ...
- 6/29/2009 4:43 pm - Zuni-Cibola National Historical Park, the Park that Died A-Borning : MPC... Not disputing whether or not Bear Lodge or Devil's Tower was on reservation land or not...to my point it is not relevant. My point has to do with being respectful of another's cultural past or spiritual beliefs. The fact that you labeled your link as "myths" of Native American ...
- 6/28/2009 8:18 pm - Zuni-Cibola National Historical Park, the Park that Died A-Borning : This is a very good thing. It is a shame that such respect for Native peoples wishes wasn't given much thought when places such as "devils tower" National Monument and many other example were birthed. Maybe progress is being made and lets hope this example becomes the norm.
