Politics stalked the national park system throughout 2007. From snowmobiles in Yellowstone to off-road vehicles in Big Cypress, it seemed natural resources and careful stewardship were trumped too often.
After a night in the cold a skier who became lost in a blizzard in Olympic National Park was rescued Sunday afternoon by rangers who slogged through 3-4 feet of snow along Hurricane Ridge to reach him.
Attached is the letter a number of senators sent to Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne asking him to overturn the National Park Service's ban on concealed weapons in national parks.
