Lodging Deals Can be Had in the National Parks

While it seems the cost of booking a room in a national park seems to be on an ever-upward spiral, there are bargains to be had if you're flexible in your travel.

If you want to visit Yosemite National Park and don't mind staying in a tent cabin in Curry Village, use promo code 39CVPC when making a reservation ( Visit this site or call 559-253-2060 for reservations) and you could land a rate as low as $39 per night. The offer is good on stays Sunday through Thursday until year's end.

At Sequoia National Park, in October and November $203 will get you and your significant other a room in Wuksachi Lodge along with a half-day guided sightseeing tour of parts of the park. Use promo code SEQTOUR. Not interested in the guided tour? Then take advantage of the Bed and Breakfast Getaway, which costs $109 per night and gets you a room at Wuksachi plus a hot breakfast for two. This offer runs October 28 through December 21.

The rates at Sequoia are pretty decent even in winter, when $119 will get you a room in the lodge plus ski or snowshoe rentals and a souvenir sled for the kids through the Winter Fun Package.

The concessionaire at Grand Canyon National Park also is offering some lodging deals this fall and winter. For instance, the "Winter Value Rate" at Maswik and Yavapai lodges is $78 per night at Maswik South and Yavapai West, and $94 per night at Maswik North and Yavapai East lodges. These rates are available November 25 through March 6, 2008, except for the December 21 through January 5, 2008, holiday period and from February 15 through Feb. 17 for the President's Day weekend.

The El Tovar Romance Package, $299 per night, at the elegant El Tovar Hotel includes one night in a standard queen room, a bottle of California sparkling wine and fruit basket in the room and dinner for two with a bottle of Grand Canyon label wine in the El Tovar Dining Room. You can upgrade to a deluxe room or suite, based upon availability, for an additional charge. The Romance Package is available November 25 through January 31, 2008, outside of the year-end holiday period.
