Reader Participation Day: Which National Park Are You Heading to This Year?

Share

If you've been to Yellowstone, Yosemite, or the Grand Canyon, just to name three examples, in summer, you know they can be crowded. So, to help minimize overcrowding at parks this summer, tell us which parks you plan to visit so the rest of us can plan accordingly.

I'm heading to every park within a 5 hour drive of Capitol Reef NP: Arches, Canyonlands, Canyon de Chelly, Navajo, Mesa Verde, etc... I'm going to enjoy living in the west! I'm also hoping to head back east to see family and go to Shenandoah and Assateague Island to visit co-workers.

In all these comments no one mentioned coming to Capitol Reef....I'm so hurt that no one wants to come to my park!

Linda and Alex!
If you have the opportunity while in Glacier NP try and catch David Walburn performing there! He does 3 different shows, one on Lewis & Clark, another on Montana and my favorite is Cabin Song which chronicles through songs, stories and photos him homestedaing and building a cabin in Alaska with 3 friends right out of college! A wonderful way to cap off a perfect day!

Linda and Alex,
He performs at the MANY GLACIER HOTEL.

We visited Capital Reef in 2008 - loved it! We hiked, picked apples in the orchards, had pie and took tons of pictures! My favorite is the old barn...

That sounds like an amazing adventure! I'll try to not be jealous! Have a great time.

So many parks, so little time. Which are we going to this year Kurt?

Ranger Lady,

My original plan was to visit Utah, including Capitol Reef, but other things got in the way and now I'm off to Shenandoah. So if I had my way, I'd be winging my way to Utah instead of Newark Airport. And by the way, I'll be spending the summer at Virgin Islands National Park cause that's where I live.

Currently at Padre Island Natl Seashore (also Aransas NWR - saw the Whooping Cranes) - this summer to Pictured Rocks and Sleeping Bear Dunes Natl Lakeshores. Love the water!
