A Brief Word From Those Who Moderate Traveler Comments

Judging from the content of some recent comments, some of which have required editing, others complete deletion, it's time to gently remind those who comment to please be respectful of others.

Topical discussion is one of the big drivers of the Traveler, but when those comments start slinging mud, goading on others, and worse, they serve no good.

Points can be made without resorting to four-letter words, insults, or endless repetition of previously made points.

We've long held that thoughtful discussion or debate can provide great opportunities for individuals to make their point and perhaps get others to see those points of view. But when the discussion deteriorates and drops into the gutter, nothing is accomplished.

Some websites have simply gone to banning any and all comments. We hope it doesn't come to that at the Traveler.

Thank you, Kurt.  Traveler is one of very few websites that have somehow managed to keep reasonably civil discourse going.

I agree with Lee.  I can actually make comments without people shouting at me here.

I can't imagine WHY individuals would feel the need to be ugly on such a beautiful site!  What J.R.T. said - "grow up people"!
