Natonal Park Mystery Photo 36 Revealed: It Has A Nice Pattern To It

Share

Rising high above the landscape where Wilbur and Orville Wright first took flight in a powered airplane, this monument was dedicated in 1932 to applaud the two men's accomplishment. Kurt Repanshek photo.

This interesting pattern is indeed man-made, and you can find it if you travel to eastern North Carolina.

There, at the Wright Brothers National Memorial, rises a cement edifice that honors the two aviation pioneers. Construction started on the monument in 1928, and was completed four years later. Today a sidewalk leads up to and circles the monument at Kill Devil Hills near Kitty Hawk.

If you're planning a visit to the memorial, take a look at our Traveler's Checklist for the site to help plan your visit.
