Pyramid Peak Trail Back Open To Hikers At Olympic National Park

Olympic National Park’s Pyramid Peak Trail has reopened after a nearly six-month closure. The trail closed in late August 2104 because of unsafe conditions in a slide-prone area.

The park’s trail crew, working with members of the Washington Trails Association, has re-routed the trail around the active slide area. The new route crosses the slide area at a lower elevation, with the goal of providing safer and more sustainable travel.

The Pyramid Peak Trail is 3.5 miles long and rises approximately 2,500 feet from the trailhead on Camp David Junior Road to the summit of Pyramid Peak.

For information on day-hiking opportunities in the Lake Crescent area or elsewhere in Olympic National Park, visitors should check the ‘Trip Planning’ section of the park’s website at http://www.nps.gov/olym.
