Young Scientists Track Bats And Beetles At Fire Island National Seashore

Share

While bat populations face the threat of white nose syndrome, stands of pine trees are under attack by pine beetles. These realities have been felt across the country, but both are being monitored by scientists and students at Fire Island National Seashore in New York.

The latest episode of the “Outside Science (inside parks)” series follows interns from the Student Conservation Association into the forest with National Park Service biologists (who also interned with the SCA before joining the Park Service).

The video series, released by the National Park Service and produced by students from Colorado State University, showcases ways “the next generation is getting involved in park science.”
