Beginning Wednesday, lighthouse tours at Cape Lookout National Seashore on North Carolina's Outer Banks will be offered from 9:45 a.m. to 4:15 p.m. Wednesdays through Sundays.
Climbing tickets are $8 for adults and $4 for seniors (62 or older) and children (11 and under). Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve basis and can only be purchased in person at the Light Station Visitor Center, located at the site, from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the day of the climb.
The lighthouse tour is the equivalent to climbing the stairs of a 14-story building. Children must be at least 44 inches tall, and children 12 and younger must be escorted by a person at least 16 years old.
Visitors should bring sun screen, bug spray, water, and snacks, and plan to pack out any trash as the park is a trash-free zone. Also, check local weather ahead of time and dress accordingly.
