A 69-year-old passenger of a Holland America cruise ship has been lost overboard at Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve in Alaska.

In a brief news release, the park said Saturday night that it had suspended its search for the man, who was reported missing from Westerdam on Friday. The individual was reported missing at 3:50 p.m. when he did not appear for a medical appointment on board, a park release said.

The Park Service was notified 7:30 Friday evening after a ship-wide search confirmed that the passenger was absent. 

Searches for the unidentified passenger were conducted both from Park Service boats and from the air, supported by the U.S. Coast Guard.

The release did not say where along the 65-mile Glacier Bay the man was reported missing, and park staff could not immediately be reached Sunday morning.

Cheryl - There are NO shore excursions in Glacier Bay.  You're confused with Tracy Arm Fjord where the catamaran comes along side the ship to pick people up and take the closer to the glacier

Hey is so mamy passengers going mission os assumed Feel overboard these croise ships. Doesn't the ships have cameras.. Shoots. I wants toi Go on a croise but this kind of things toi read about makes it difficult toi want to tale a cruise. And why have they stoppes searching for the man. I know the water is freezing but Jesus. He could .be maybe atoll alive Lordy mercy.

I think the captain is supposed to go down with his ship regardless of what he is the captain of the ship and if there's something major going on on them shifts the captain should be the first one to go overboard to find the person well that's just my outlook on life I have been on three cruises and they are beautiful things to be on but maybe that man has something on his mind that was very heavy and I feel sorry for the family my prayers goes out to them
