A powerful storm downed trees at the Buffalo Point CG in Buffalo National River, including this sycamore tree that toppled onto an RV in the B Loop/NPS

A powerful middle-of-the-night storm pounded Buffalo National River in Arkansas early Saturday, downing trees that blocked roads, pulled down power lines, and damaged park facilities and vehicles.

The Buffalo Point Campground was closed following the storm to allow crews to remove the downed trees and restore the power. Very minor injuries were reported and all other areas of the park remain accessible and open to the public.

Along with the campground closure, Buffalo Point Cabins and Restaurant also were closed due to a lack of electricity, sewer, and phones. Buffalo Point Campground is expected reopen on Tuesday morning.
