Bryce Canyon National Park is ready for fall visitors/NPS

October brings cooler temperatures, outstanding colors, and changing services to Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah. Here are the construction projects, hours, and operations for park visitor services and concessions as the fall season begins.

* The project to expand and improve parking within the visitor center parking lot is expected to be completed by mid-month. Beginning Sunday, the park visitor center and bookstore will be open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The visitor center and bookstore will transition to their winter hours of 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 10th. Thursday, November 28th and Wednesday, December 25th are the only days that the park’s visitor center and bookstore will not be open, in observance of Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays. The park remains open year-round.

* Sunset Campground has now reopened for first-come-first-serve camping, while North Campground is currently closed for paving. Once paving is completed, North Campground Loop A will reopen for the winter season. The North Campground dump station and Sunset Campground will close November 1st or earlier if overnight temperatures drop consistently below freezing.

* The Bryce Canyon Shuttle is currently on its fall schedule, providing service beginning at 8 a.m. until the final outbound bus departs the Visitor Center leaving the park at 6:15 p.m. Shuttle service will continue in the park through Sunday, October 20th.

* Concession lodging and food services will be available most of the fall and winter season at Bryce Canyon.  On Sunday, November 3, at 11 a.m., the Lodge at Bryce Canyon and the Sunrise Hotel unit will end their seasons. Both of these facilities will resume operations on Friday, March 27, 2020. Both Sunset Hotel and the General Store near Sunrise Point will end their season on January 2, 2020.

While open, the General Store will provide limited breakfast, lunch, and early dinner options as well as restrooms, laundry, and public showers. Both the Sunset Hotel and General Store will re-open on March 6th, 2020.

By May 1st, 2020, all concession lodging, food, and beverage services will have resumed operation for the 2020 season, with the exception of Valhalla Pizzeria which will reopen May 22, 2020.

The final day for horseback and mule rides operated by Canyon Trail Rides will be October 31st, unless weather dictates an earlier closing. Canyon Trail Rides will resume operations on May 1, 2020, or earlier if conditions permit.
