The National Park Service expects to release several dozen concession prospectuses during the current year.

These range from small contracts such as guided horseback rides in Grand Teton National Park that generated $14,000 in 2011 revenues to the long awaited concession for most of the business operations in Yosemite National Park that in 2011 generated revenues of $132 million. A separate $1 million grocery concession in Yosemite will also be put out for bid.

Other major contracts expected this year include lodging concessions in Mesa Verde National Park, Olympic National Park, Grand Canyon National Park, Oregon Caves National Monument, and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

I hope the Blue Ridge Parkway finds the right concessionaire for Bluff Mountain lodge and coffee shop in Doughton Park. Such a great location.

I sure hope the Yosemite concessions go to a new concessioner. The current one is doing a singularly lousy job, IMHO.

I'd like to see Olympic go to a concessioner that does a better job, too.
