A coral-killing disease spreading through the ocean waters touching a number of national parks is threatenening to upend the marine ecosystem, threatening biodiversity and impacting coastal economies, according to new research from a University of Florida doctoral candidate.

Ongoing earthquakes and growing seismic pressure continue to reflect unrest with the Kīlauea volcano at Hawai'i Volcanoes National Park, but volcanologists say it's impossible to predict if an eruption is imminent.

The North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park will open on May 15 at 6 a.m., barring any unexpected weather problems, to mark the official start of the 2024 season.

If weather allows, the East Entrance to Yellowstone National Park will open at 8 a.m. local time Friday.
